I nominate Christian’s Tailgate in Midtown Houston for Best Bills Backers Bar.

And frankly, I’m a little annoyed that I have to explain this.

We’re Bills fans living in Houston.

Do you have any idea what we deal with?

It’s 94 degrees in October. People put brisket in places brisket has no business being. Cowboys fans roam freely. And every few years somebody tries to explain to us why this is finally the Texans’ year.

    We’ve suffered enough.

    Thankfully, we have Christian’s.

For more than 20 years, the Houston Bills Backers have gathered there for EVERY Bills game.

    And I mean every game.

We showed up before Josh Allen.

We showed up during the playoff drought.

We showed up for quarterbacks whose names should probably be protected by HIPAA.

We watched 7–9 seasons with the determination of people who clearly had nowhere healthier to direct their emotions.

    And Christian’s never abandoned us.

Today, it’s basically Western New York with air conditioning.

Walk in on Bills Sunday and there are hundreds of people wearing Bills gear, drinking Labatt, eating wings and Sahlen’s hot dogs, yelling at referees who obviously have personal vendettas against Western New York.

The game is on the giant screens WITH SOUND because we’re civilized.

    Third down?

    TRAIN HORN.

    Touchdown?

    SHOUT SONG.

    Fourth quarter?

    MR. BRIGHTSIDE.

    Bad call?

Three hundred unpaid officiating experts immediately begin their analysis.

    It’s beautiful.

And this weekend, with Buffalo coming to Houston, Christian’s is throwing a massive Bills Mafia block party.

Thousands of Bills fans are descending upon our city.

    Houston authorities have been advised.

    Tables are presumably being monitored.

But here’s why Christian’s should actually win:

When the Bills leave Houston, we’re still here.

Next Sunday we’ll be back at Christian’s.

    Then the next game.

    Then the next.

Because Christian’s isn’t some bar that found a Bills flag in the storage closet when Buffalo came to town. It’s been the home of the Houston Bills Backers for more than TWO DECADES.

We’ve even been named the #1 Bills Backers group in the nation.

So Watson’s, I think the decision is obvious.

Send Christian’s the 10 pounds of sponge candy.

We’ll give it a loving home surrounded by wings, Labatt and several hundred emotionally unstable Buffalo Bills fans.

Although after surviving the playoff drought, 10 pounds seems a little light.

    Call it 20.

    We’ve earned it.

    Christian’s Tailgate – Midtown
    2000 Bagby Street
    Houston, Texas

    Come for the Bills.

Stay because somebody started the Shout Song again.

    Go Bills.

I nominate Christian’s Tailgate in Midtown Houston, and I can make the case pretty simply:

Buffalo should not work this well in Texas.

    But somehow, it does.

For more than 20 years, the Houston Bills Backers have been taking over Christian’s every time the Bills play. Not just during the Josh Allen years. Not just when we’re winning. Not just when Buffalo comes to town.

    Every. Single. Game.

    Remember the drought years?

    Yeah. We were there.

    Remember some of those quarterbacks?

Unfortunately, we were there for them too.

And now that the Bills are perennial contenders, all those years of suffering have made Sundays at Christian’s that much sweeter.

Walk in on game day and you’ll understand immediately.

Hundreds of Bills fans. Game sound blasting. Wings flying. Labatt flowing. Sahlen’s on the menu. The train horn on third down. The Shout Song after touchdowns. Mr. Brightside heading into the fourth quarter.

And absolutely nobody asking if we can put the Cowboys game on one of the TVs.

    This is Bills territory.

This weekend, thousands of Bills fans are invading Houston for the game at NRG Stadium, and Christian’s is throwing a massive Saturday block party to welcome them.

    But here’s the best part:

For the Houston Bills Backers, this isn’t a special occasion.

    We do this every week.

Christian’s has become the place where Western New Yorkers find each other in a city nearly 1,400 miles away. It’s where Houstonians get introduced to Bills Mafia and somehow end up becoming part of it. It’s where strangers share tables, high-five after touchdowns, complain about officiating like they’re related, and leave as friends.

That’s why Christian’s deserves those 10 pounds of Watson’s sponge candy.

Although I do have one concern with the prize.

Ten pounds divided by several hundred members of Bills Mafia isn’t nearly enough sponge candy.

But we’re willing to make it work.

Send it to Christian’s Tailgate, 2000 Bagby Street, Houston, Texas.

    We’ll supply the wings.

    We’ll supply the Labatt.

    We’ll supply the Mafia.

    You bring Buffalo.

    Go Bills!

  • Mafia Man on Sep 11, 2026

My vote is for Christian’s Tailgate in Midtown Houston, home of the Houston Bills Backers.

There are probably prettier Bills bars. There are probably bigger ones. But I’m not sure there’s another place 1,400 miles from Buffalo where you can walk in on a Sunday afternoon and genuinely forget what state you’re in.

Christian’s has been doing this for more than 20 years.

    That part matters.

This place was packed with Bills fans before Josh Allen was hurdling linebackers and before anybody was calling Buffalo a Super Bowl favorite. Houston Bills fans showed up through the drought years, the heartbreaks, the quarterbacks we’d rather forget, and all those seasons when “maybe next year” was basically our team motto.

    And they kept coming back.

Today, Christian’s is an absolute madhouse on game day — in the best possible way.

You hear the game throughout the bar. The train horn comes out on third down. Everybody knows exactly when the Shout Song should play. Mr. Brightside means the fourth quarter is coming. There are Sahlen’s hot dogs, wings and Labatt Blue everywhere you look.

When Buffalo comes to Houston, like this weekend, Christian’s becomes ground zero for the visiting Mafia. There’s a huge Saturday block party and Bills fans pour in from everywhere.

But here’s what I think makes Christian’s different:

    They’ll all go home. Christian’s won’t.

Next week, the Houston Bills Backers will be right back in the same place doing it all over again.

That’s what makes this more than a bar that shows Bills games. It’s a Buffalo community that happens to have a Houston ZIP code.

People have met lifelong friends there. Newcomers walk in knowing nobody and leave knowing half the room. Native Houstonians have been adopted into Bills Mafia. And people who grew up around Buffalo have a place where, for a few hours every week, home doesn’t feel quite so far away.

The Houston Bills Backers have even been recognized nationally as the #1 Bills Backers group in the country, which tells you we’re probably not the only ones who think something special is happening at 2000 Bagby.

So Watson’s, send the sponge candy south.

Ten pounds sounds like a lot.

You’ve clearly never seen Bills Mafia eat.

    Christian’s Tailgate – Midtown
    Houston, Texas

    Go Bills!

  • Buffalo Joe on Sep 11, 2026

I nominate Christian’s Tailgate Bar & Grill – Midtown in Houston, Texas, home of the Houston Bills Backers.

I grew up in Buffalo, but I live in Houston now. And there are certain things you just can’t explain to people who aren’t from Western New York.

Why “Wide Right” can still ruin your mood. Why the first notes of the Shout Song can make a grown adult lose his mind. Why Labatt somehow tastes better during a Bills game. And why two complete strangers wearing the same charging buffalo can meet on Sunday and feel like family by halftime.

    Christian’s gets it.

For more than 20 years, Bills fans have gathered there — long before Josh Allen, long before Super Bowl expectations, and back when simply finishing 9–7 could feel like something worth celebrating.

And Christian’s didn’t suddenly become a Bills bar because Buffalo is coming to Houston this weekend.

Buffalo has been showing up here every Bills Sunday for more than two decades.

This weekend, Bills Mafia will descend on Houston, pack the Saturday block party and then head to NRG Stadium on Sunday. But after the traveling Mafia goes home, Christian’s will still be here the next week. And the week after that. That’s why the Houston Bills Backers have even earned national recognition as the #1 Bills Backers group in the country.

On game day, Christian’s isn’t a Houston bar that happens to put the Bills on TV.

It becomes a little piece of Buffalo, Texas.

The game is on the big screens with full sound. The third-down train horn blasts. The Shout Song follows touchdowns. Mr. Brightside takes us into the fourth quarter. There are wings, Sahlen’s, Labatt Blue, Bills-themed drinks, raffles and a sea of red, white and blue.

But none of that is really why Christian’s deserves to win.

It’s what happens when you walk through the door.

Some of us grew up in Western New York. Some married into Bills Mafia. Some have never lived anywhere near Buffalo. It doesn’t matter. For a few hours, we’re all from the same hometown.

    You’re home.

That’s Buffalo to me. It’s never really been about geography. It’s about loyalty, friendship, community, a slightly irrational devotion to a football team, and knowing that wherever Bills Mafia gathers, nobody stays a stranger for very long.

Watson’s has been giving people a taste of Buffalo for generations. So if you’re looking for the place outside Western New York where 10 pounds of Watson’s sponge candy will be truly appreciated, I think you’ve found it.

    Send it to Houston.

We’ll provide the wings, Labatt and several hundred members of Bills Mafia to help make it disappear.

Christian’s Tailgate. 2000 Bagby. Houston, Texas.

    1,400 miles from Buffalo.
    About three feet from home.

    Go Bills.
